MEETING THE HIGHER SELF – A ‘HOW TO’ GUIDE We are in regular contact with our higher selves, every day, but most of us do not remember that this is true. Our task is to start communicating more consciously with our higher selves and our oversoul to gain more wisdom to make our lives better, while we still inhabit human forms. There is more than one higher self (defined as the versions of our soul energy that hold more consciousness energy and knowledge than we do in this moment of reality), and each of us has one highest-self, often called the oversoul. The oversoul is the complete energetic expression of you as an aspect of God/Source energy. Each oversoul agreed to separate from the whole, The All, God/Source; to have individual experiences, within varied dimensional realities, for the purpose experiencing what it like to be “not Source,” or what we call experiencing separation from Source. All of this experience from our oversoul goes back to Source, and causes the wisdom of Source to expand. Knowledge + Experience = Wisdom. In other words, as we know ourselves better through experience, and God/Source adds our experiences to the knowledge of all (we call this the Akashic Records), we then have wisdom. We expand. When we communicate with spirit in higher dimensional energy fields, we are doing that by going within our own energy fields, reaching higher states of consciousness. These beings ARE us, and we are them, and so it is inner communication through our heart chakra (energy field) that we are discussing. Not some beings outside of us. All of everything, including the higher self and God/Source, is within, and this is the definition of unity consciousness. We appear to be separate beings, but we are truly all One having individual illusions of separation. Meeting our oversoul, or other versions of ourselves that hold higher levels of consciousness (higher selves) can be done through hypnosis, meditation, and/or raising our energy fields of vibration; which ultimately raises your personal frequency. Once you take steps to raise your personal frequency, then you will be able to communicate with higher vibrational versions of yourself, and your oversoul, at will. The benefit of this is that you will have a direct line to the wisdom of the highest consciousness expressions of your soul! And I promise you, your oversoul is very wise and loving. It wants the best possible reality and outcomes for you. I am going to teach you some ways to raise your vibration and personal frequency so that you will meet other versions of you with more energy (consciousness), in other dimensional realities, and your oversoul (otherwise known as The Higher Self). I’m going to start by telling you that you have four light bodies. A light body is a part of your soul’s essence (energy) put in place, specifically designated, to assist you in navigating your human existence. The light body I want to focus on is the mental light body. It works in tandem with your brain, the left and right hemispheres, to form what I call the body mind complex (or the human mind complex). So, you have the consciousness of your soul that communicates with your physical mind, called the mental light body, and it works directly with your brain to communicate back and forth with your oversoul. This is set up before birth, and many people refer to the communication between your mind and soul a form of ‘intuition.’ There are other forms of intuition, but for the purpose of meeting your higher self(s), I am going to focus on the human mind complex. First and foremost, the left hemisphere of your brain governs your survival instincts (executive decisions). It is the reason you have not jumped off a cliff and hit a pile of rocks because you had an idea that it would be a fun thing to do. The flying part would feel great (intuitively – right brain inspiration), but the impact trauma of the rocks waiting below would not (the left brain tells you “no!”). The executive mind is also the reason why you want to run away or protect yourself when you feel danger. Some spiritualists refer to the left brain (executive mind) as your thinking mind or the egoic mind. There are those that suggest the egoic mind needs to be shut down, and I wholly disagree with that and here’s why…it still protects us against danger because it recognizes the signs of danger and instructs us when we need to be aware also. Secondly, the egoic mind can be trained to know the difference between danger and a grand inspiration, and to work with the right brain (intuitive mind) harmoniously. The right brain is the receptor of mental intuition, or your thoughts that seem to come from the air. It becomes inspired, and lets you get excited about new ideas. Some really great inspirations come to us through the right brain, but it is the left brain that helps us to form those inspirations into realities. Without the executive thinking mind, we might float around acting upon every whim that comes from the intuitive mind and never finish one thing. Have you ever had multiple projects started that you have not brought to completion? Well, this scenario indicates that you are well connected with your intuitive right brain (creative side), but not yet engaging the part of the brain that helps you to follow through on the ideas. See why I do not suggest trying to excommunicate your egoic mind? We want to work with both hemispheres of the brain AND our mental light body whenever we want to create something, and to communicate with our higher selves. Okay, with that background information handy, let’s get on with how to meet your higher selves and highest self, the oversoul. Step 1 – Stop battling your egoic mind when you try to meditate or go into self-hypnosis to meet your higher self. It will always try to tell you to be careful when exploring an unknown experience, but you do not need to fight it. Instead, train the left brain (egoic mind) to relax when you are attempting to meet your higher selves by assuring it that you are in no danger when you are doing this process. The reason, you tell it, is that you can make contact with your other soul aspects without danger because you have set the intention to meet with and communicate with only the versions of you that have the highest consciousnesses, and intentions, for your highest good. Setting this intention and communicating it with your executive mind allows the egoic mind to relax, while protecting your energy fields from any lower consciousness energies. We are light beings experiencing in a free will reality. No other soul or aspect of you can intervene with your life unless you invite it to, for good or bad. You must invite your higher self(s) to communicate with you. Otherwise, to do so on their part would constitute interference in your life plan, and they simply love you too much to do that. They provide subtle guidance to you throughout your life automatically, yes, but we are talking about setting up full-blown communication and receiving direct messages from your wise soul aspects. Permission is needed for this kind of involvement with your human consciousness. When you give the permission for the communication, and know that you are protected from nefarious energies by setting your intentions, your executive mind will be able to relax because there is nothing to protect you from. Then invite your executive brain to observe your communications without interfering. You will remember more of the communications when the left brain is allowed to participate in the process. Step 2 – Be open to all types of extra sensory communication with your higher self(s). Every single human being is capable of clairvoyance, clairsentience, claircognizance, empathy, and so on. We are psychic by the nature of our connection to all of Creation; God/Source, the universe, other souls, and to all of our soul aspects. We are never disconnected from them. But, after reducing our consciousness to have this human experience, many of us have forgotten that we can have extra sensory communications with spirit. Again, opening up to and allowing your “other” senses to activate in you is key to having a two-way communication with your higher self. At first, you may sense the presence of one or more of your higher selves, or your oversoul. Or maybe you just know that you are communing with them because you feel their energy coming to you. This is conscious connection with them. Trust it! And as you do it more, intentionally, you will be able to hear, taste, see, smell, know, and feel more and deeper messages from them. They may show you whole scenarios about something in an instant. Suddenly you know something that you do not know why you know it. Spiritualists call these communications with the higher self “downloads”. The higher self wants you to know something and so it either shows it to you or inputs the knowledge about it directly into your energy field, the mental light body, which is then interpreted by your brain. I have worked in quantum energy fields so much and practiced quieting my mind so often, through various forms of meditation, that I am now able to speak to my oversoul at will, and it provides answers to my questions right away. Sometimes I hear my oversoul speaking to me in my own voice, other times I receive pictures, and sometimes I receive visions of whole scenes like a movie. And, in other instances, I have an automatic knowing about something that cannot otherwise be explained. I ask the question, and I know the answer. Well, one answer anyway. The answer my higher self gives me is FOR ME. It may not pertain to YOU. This is why I encourage people to meet their higher selves. It is much better to get information from your higher self than for me to share my truths with you. Each and every person has a life plan and experiences that go with that life plan specifically. Your answers may not be my answers, and vice versa. I can and do share the messages from my higher selves with other people. I’ve written two books that are the result of my personal experiences and a bunch of channeling I did with my guides and higher selves. I’m always willing to share, however, I stand by my belief that you receiving messages from your own higher wisdom is better and most applicable to your journey in this life. My higher selves speak with me in my dreams, send me synchronicities, and also communicate to me directly into my mind. This would not be possible if I did not believe it is possible. And, if I were to believe what traditional psychiatrists and some psychologists believe about what I just described, I might think I am schizophrenic. Fear of judgement of psychic abilities is still very real in our society. You do not have to share any of your communications with your own spirit if you choose not to, but we are moving into a new Earth reality where more of this is happening with people that never imagined they have these abilities. Psychic ability will soon be an accepted part of the human experience. By the way, your highest self, the oversoul, does not have a specified gender because it is completely balanced in the masculine and feminine divine energies. In essence, your oversoul is both genders. If you do have a belief that you cannot communicate with spirit or that it is wrong to do so, your mind will block you from receiving these communications. Remember what I said about the executive brain protecting you? You are the one who decides when you are ready to have these kinds of meetings with your spirit, and to what extent you are capable of having them. My advice is to set your intention and try it. Step 3 – MEDITATE daily, even if it is for two minutes to start! This helps us to learn to quiet the executive mind’s endless chatter about everything else besides what you are intending to focus on. You know how it is…the moment you intend to quiet your thoughts and just relax, you get flooded by every stupid thought you ever had since kindergarten. It can be a bit maddening when you first start meditating because your mind has so much to say to you, and we humans have a habit of avoiding our own thoughts until they break through our defense systems and demand to be heard. So what happens is, the minute you give yourself permission to relax, and stop constantly filling your mind with stuff “to do,” all the thoughts you have been avoiding come crashing in for some attention. This is very good! When you first start meditating, allow all those thoughts to come pouring in without judgement. Give yourself the gift of allowing yourself to know what is truly on your mind. You can even set an alarm so that you feel comfortable making time for those thoughts to be free. As you become more comfortable with meditation, you can increase the amount of time you spend doing it. There is no prescribed “ideal” amount of time to meditate for it to be helpful. Two-minute meditations can be extremely helpful in times of anxiety or high stress. Meditation is not only useful to reach some altered state of consciousness and or to gain some enlightened piece of information. Meditation is also a practice of self-love. It gives us the opportunity to know ourselves better. If you do find that your thoughts are disturbing to you, then those thoughts are an indication of the areas where you need to heal. Self judgement, judgement of others, fear…those are all energies that will keep your frequency lower and prevent you from having excellent communication with your higher self. Notice disturbing thoughts that come up during your meditations and write them down! Then you can ask your higher self(s) to help you work through them; to understand them, and transmute them. Your higher selves will be more than happy to help you heal from anything that you have been afraid to deal with. TYPES OF MEDITATION I am going to start with my favorites. First, object meditation. This is when you pick something or someone in your environment and notice everything you can about that object for a while. This exercise takes you out of your thinking mind and puts you into observational mind (the right brain). It also gives you a chance to relax and let uplifting energy flow to you. I like to focus on my cats. I notice their eyes, fur, mannerisms, moods, the way they breathe, the way that the sunlight looks when it hits their fur, what they are doing, how they interact with each other, and the list goes on. Sometimes, when one of our cats is in my lap, I watch the way each part of their body moves while they are breathing. I love to do this with the dog too, although she does not fit into my lap. A fun side-effect to meditating with my pets is that I can now communicate with them telepathically. I suppose this is a result of merging my energy fields so closely with theirs. You can pick literally any object to meditate with, however, I suggest you choose something pleasant to you. Getting grossed-out will put you back into your thinking mind and then you might think your meditation was unsuccessful. The next form of meditation is through media or an activity you find enjoyable. This can be listening to music, doing your art, swimming, going for a walk, dancing, gardening, watching a movie; anything relaxing that does not require much thought. Some people, like me, find doing household work meditational and therapeutic, others like to exercise. I cannot tell you how many times I have been contacted by spirit while doing routine jobs around the house or taking a shower. It’s like spirits know my brain is open and relaxed and they jump in when the opportunity presents. I’ve told my guides to leave me alone sometimes because I am enjoying the serenity of my activity too much to be disturbed at the moment. The key with this kind of meditation, in my opinion, is to allow yourself to flow with whatever thoughts and feelings you are having. If you feel angry, let it flow through you. The same with joy, fear, excitement and anxiety. Whatever you feel, let it flow through you and around you until you reach a neutral, peaceful state of being. Remember, judging yourself for having human emotions is counterproductive to raising your vibration! Allowing yourself to feel all of your emotions is the path to raising your vibration. If you don’t let the “junk” out of the system, the system will get “clogged,” and then the communications with your higher self will be limited. Energy clogs are resolvable, but why let the junk build up in the first place? Guided meditation is what I started with before I was able to quiet my mind long enough to try other forms. I practiced guided meditation in my 20’s using cassette tapes my therapist made for me. Now we have the internet and YouTube available. I tune into my favorite practitioners of guided meditation from time to time. Especially at night before bed. It is excellent for setting up the consciousness for positive creation while you are sleeping. And there are many guided meditations available online for free to help you meet your higher self! Look at the options and pick the ones you feel called to listen to. Or record your own guided meditation! Record your intention for what you wish to achieve, speak slowly and clearly, using as much imagery as you can, and then enjoy your own voice guiding you to where you want your consciousness to be. You can add soothing background music to your recording which will automatically get you into the mood to meditate. Silence/breath work meditation. Sit, lay, or stand in a comfortable position and allow your body to relax. Give yourself permission to be in a quiet, peaceful environment, undisturbed. Take in a long breath through your nose, all the way into your diaphragm. Hold that breath for a second or two, and then let it out slowly through your mouth. Pause another second before taking in a new breath the same way, all the way down into the base of your lungs. Pay attention to only your breath and the way your body is feeling. If you feel an area in your body that is sore or feels energy dense, then bring your breath to that place in the body, and release the tension there, slowly, on the out breath. This type of breathing is called ‘box breathing’ and it was created by military special forces to help soldiers, sailors, Marines, and all others to be calm during times of intense stress. Paying extreme attention to your breathing takes you out of your thinking mind, grounds new energy into your body, and helps you stay in the moment. For myself, box breathing leads me directly into altered states of consciousness where I do a lot of communication with spirit, including my oversoul. Or I just enjoy the relaxation before falling peacefully asleep. Energy healing meditation. (eyes closed) set the intention for what you would like healed. Your mind, your emotions, a part of your body, or all of those. Get comfortable. Then begin the box breathing and wait for a light to enter your mind’s eye, or your third eye. It may appear as an orb, or a beam of light, or several orbs and beams of light. Notice the color. Breathe that color right into your mind, your nose, into your ears and down your throat. Continue bringing the light(s) into your whole body, allowing it to concentrate in the areas where you feel it is needed the most, or where you feel energy density. Allow the light to move all the way through you and down through your toes, into the floor board, to the center of the Earth. Anchor that light into the core of the Earth. Then imagine scooping up the shimmering silver light from the Earth’s core and bring it up through the body like you did with the initial light. Ground and anchor that light to your solar plexus. Allow yourself to come back to full awareness after you have grounded the Earth’s energy to you. That’s it! Easy peasy :) The leaf and the tree meditation. This one is not really for beginners unless you are already good at visualization and have lots of time to do it. It can be frustrating and cause you to give up on meditation. Especially if you have limits on time for meditation. Okay, here it is. Get comfortable and imagine a beautiful tree in your mind’s eye. There is also a gentle pond near the tree. This tree is going to shed leaves for you, one at a time, and you need to watch each leaf from stem to water until the next leaf starts to fall. Keep watching the leaves fall without allowing any other thoughts to come into your mind, until you count 50 leaves. If you have other thoughts breaking into your mind besides observing the leaves and counting, start again at the count of 1. This mediation is designed to improve your focus while discounting outside interferences. I have not personally made it past observing and counting 10 leaves, and already my ability to focus on one task at a time has improved quite a bit. This meditation I compare to the movie scene in Karate Kid where Mr. Myiagi told Daniel to apply wax on the car. Wax on, wax off. It seems kind of pointless until you understand what laser focus can do for you! I have been diagnosed with ADHD, and so I can tell you that anything that helps me to have laser focus on one thing at a time is helpful. These are just a few types of meditation that I use. There are many other forms of meditation, and you can find the ones that feel comfortable for you by searching the internet. Meditation is primarily about quieting the executive mind so that the intuitive mind can receive more information, or to feel peaceful in your own energy. Meditation will help you contact your higher self(s) more easily. It assists all of your light bodys to realign and be balanced. I cannot stress enough how beneficial doing this for yourself is. If you can spend extra time doing your work or helping others, then you can spend extra time for yourself to get in touch with your inner world. People think that the higher selves, God/Source, and other spirits are outside of themselves; something they need to reach for outwardly to the sky, through a guru, cast a spell or consult someone else for communication with spirit. This is simply not true. All of those are right there inside of you, in your heart chakra energy fields. Reach in and have a chat using your senses, and your mind. Let go of control and see where it takes you. Setp 4 – Use your imagination. Take some time every day to imagine yourself as the highest version of you. Get detailed about it. If you had a magic wand, how would you fashion yourself? What would you be doing? How will you be living? What aspects of your personality or your outer appearance would you highlight? What aspects would you change? How will you interact with other people? While you are imagining yourself as the highest version of you, notice if any judgements come up about yourself now, and write them down after you are done visualizing your highest version. Take each of those judgement statements and write an opposite statement, placing the words “I AM” in front of it. This is reprogramming your beliefs about yourself. It merges your current energy consciousness with the energy of your higher self. The more you proclaim every positive vision of yourself to your mind, to your body, to the universe, and to your soul using I AM statements, the intention and determination of your statements become manifest into your reality because your energy raises in frequency. If you keep telling yourself that you are old, fat, unlucky, not good with people, tired, poor, sick or any other self-defeating message, you are energetically reinforcing a version of yourself and will become trapped in that energy. Your body, soul, and the universe will keep sending you confirmation of those realities, and then your mind will continue to be convinced those beliefs are true. Negative programming can be changed if you decide to be the creator version of you, and stop playing small as the limited version of you. Doing this reprogramming; using your imagination and then reinforcing it with your words, allows you to embody the energy of your higher self. Consciousness is only limited by our vibrational frequency. Vibrational frequency can be increased when we participate in exercises and experiences that bring us joy. Accepting yourself exactly the way you are right now as a perfect expression of Source is an excellent way to begin. Once you can accept everything about yourself without the magic wand, then the magic wand of your imagination creates the next state of being you wish to be. Positive affirmations following visualization energetically changes your reality. You might never look like a movie star or play the piano like Elton John, but you will move into your own higher self, and that is what your oversoul wants for you. To be healthy and joy filled. Then you don’t have to meet the higher self because you ARE it. Step 5 – Ask for help contacting your higher self. Your guides for this life will help you to connect, but you must ask them to assist. Free-will means they cannot interfere with your experiences unless you ask them to.
